Tracking an Omni Air Troop Carrier
Earlier today we spent some time tracking a US troop carrying aircraft Omni Air N225AX. It originated at Dobbins Reserve Air Base near Atlanta in Georgia and landed at Shannon Airport just before midnight on Friday night. It refueled and took off again about 1.58am Saturday morning, heading for another refeuling stop at Sofia Bulgaria, before flying on over east Africa.
It was then recorded over Asosa in Ethiopia when in seemed to switch of its transponder which was wise because it was now flying over or near a viscous civil war in Tigre province Ethiopia.
It has since been tracked on its return journey over Ethiopia and Sudan and judging by the time it was out of tracking contact it may have landed and delivered US troops to the US base at Camp Lemonier in Djibouti. This is same camp from which the US special forces launched an attack on a Yemeni village on 29 January 2017, in which eight year old Nawar al-Awaki was killed along with up to 30 other Yemeni men, women and children.
This was only one of many such special forces and killer drone attacks that the US launched against Yemen in support of the war being waged by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The Omni Air US troop carrier is probably on its way back through Shannon early tomorrow morning This and other such refuelling flights of US troop carrying aircraft makes Ireland actively complicit in the war in Yemen.
